My Red Sonja costume, worn at Megacon 2011. Costume by myself, photo by Crimson Monkey. I'll go into construction a bit later. I just wanted to go ahead and put up one of the first shots I found of this costume. Really happy with how it came out.
Oops! Just found your commentary on making the costume on one of the other pics. Answers some of my questions. The shoulders -are- a plastic. But does the piece now stay in that shape? Or does it bend to allow more leeway in putting it on? (Is that part of the reason for the cut-out holes?)
Very nice! Very hot! (And having seen and met you in person before, I know that the pic is NOT photo-shopped, as that other clueless poster seemed to believe. In fact I'd say that though the camera loves you, it still doesn't do you proper justice to real life. )
I do have a couple of questions though, if I may?
Are all the metal looking pieces metal? Or fiberglass/plastic?
I'm particularly curious about the shoulders. It -looks- like it's all one metal piece and then bent into shape. But if it's not flexible, I can't see how you would fit your head through it to put it on! The front angle of the "collar" seems to ride very close to your neck. Is your hair hiding a larger opening on the back? (I've looked at the other photos and there's no angle that shows enough of it to tell.) Maybe it's actually a flexible plastic?
I also am curious about the design of the shoulders in general. I'm not a connoisseur of Red Sonja enough to be really knowledgeable. But most art I've seen of her in the Frazetta "chain mail bikini" style portrays the shoulders as separate pieces. Is there a version that uses this design that you were using as a reference? Or was this an original choice?
Alisa, as you and I both well know there is one sad basic fact of life... "Haters are gonna hate". No matter what you do and no matter how nice you are, some twit with low self esteem is going to try to tear you down to make themselves feel better.
As for you ShingLang, your little diagram is a pointless exercise in ignorance and/or spite. Alisa is one of my best friends whom I've known for nearly 10 years. Her body shape is exactly as you see it in the pictures, no photoshop needed. The fact that you can't accept that is your own sad flaw.
The following image was taken last night at an event here in Atlanta. Except to be rotated, no editing has been done. The two areas you circled in your post are clearly visible here. You are simply wrong, and either too arrogant or embarrassed to admit it.
Wow Im actually in a state of shock at the blatant hating by that girl. Alisa I've know you for years and in Ive seen you rock very skimpy costumes. Now these costumes work on you not only because you work your ass off ALL the time and im sure make many sacrifices in the name of beauty but you have AMAZING posture. I am a professional costume maker and often work with girls who have a similar figure, fact is if they are in shape enough then the costume lays flush with the skin. She needs to grow up.
I'm sorry shingshanglangdangwallawallabingbang, but this is Alisa's body. I've known Alisa for over a decade and have followed her work and pictures. Alisa, you look beautiful as ever and have made another amazing costume. You're the best. Shang, 1/2 of what you said about things blending it, I don't know what you're talking about. I invite you to save the pic and zoom in. Have a blast. Know what you'll find? 100% Pure Alisa, and she's amazing.
Alisakiss makes her outfits and shows them at conventions such as Megacon and Dragoncon. She has a wonderful body and works hard to keep it that way. I wonder if you saw her boyfriend in one of his outfits if you would say the same. They are both in top shape, and i can assure you there is no photoshop involved in any of her pics. point blank she just looks that damn good. Dont hate
